What is considered an emergency?
Many things may constitute an emergency and many things are able to wait until morning. This list may help you determine what needs to be seen quickly. This is not a complete list and you will have to use your judgement.
- Hit by car: animals can go into shock or have internal injuries that you may not recognize at the time of the accident
- Sudden Paralysis of the any of the legs
- Acute blindness
- Bleeding that will not stop or bleeding from a deep wound
- Vomiting blood or passing large volumes of blood rectally
- Continuous vomiting/ diarrhea
- A dog in Labor that continues for more that 2 hours requires a phone call and veterinary intervention if lasting more than 4 hours
- Bloated abdomen
- Difficulty breathing
- Collapsing
- Seizure that is lasting for more than 3 to 4 minutes
- Broken limb
- Unable to urinate
If you feel as though your pet is experiencing a medical emergency these are the closest facilities that we recommend. Please advise we are not an emergency hospital and may be unable to assist with critical care needs.
